Get Up to $1,400 Off Locally Made Hot Water Systems Thanks to the Victorian Government

Bigger Rebates for Locally Made Systems 

Starting 1 July 2025, the Victorian Government is offering an enhanced hot water rebate of up to $1,400 for households that choose eligible systems supporting local manufacturing. These products must be at least 50% locally made or assembled and purchased through an authorised retailer. 

The standard $1,000 rebate remains available for other approved systems. 

A range of Solahart Hot Water Systems are now eligible for the extra $400 bonus. 

Why Upgrade Your Hot Water System? 

Hot water heating is one of the largest energy expenses in Victorian homes, accounting for 15–30% of total energy use. Upgrading to a solar or heat pump system can help you:

  • Reduce your carbon footprint
  • Increase long-term efficiency 

How the Rebate Works 

This rebate is part of the Solar Homes Program, funded by the Victorian Government. Key details: 

  • Standard rebate is up to $1000 for solar water heaters and heat pumps.
  • An additional $400 applies to products that are at least 50% locally made or assembled.
  • The rebate is applied after other discounts (STCs, VEECs).
  • Must be purchased from an authorised retailer.
  • Only eligible products qualify. 

Are You Eligible? 

You may qualify if: 

  • You are the owner-occupier of the property.
  • Combined household income is under $210,000/year.
  • Property value is under $3 million.
  • The system being replaced is at least 3 years old.
  • Your address hasn’t received a hot water or battery rebate under the Solar Homes Program
  • You work with an authorised retailer and choose from the approved product list. 

*If you’ve received a Solar Homes rebate and/or loan but have moved house, you can apply again, provided the new property has not received these rebates before. 

Installation Process 

  1. Speak with an authorised retailer – your local Solahart Dealer
  2. Choose a system from the approved list. Your local Solahart dealer will help you select a hot water system from the approved product list that meets your energy and lifestyle needs.
  3. Get a written quote. Your local Solahart Dealer will upload it to the Solar Victoria portal.
  4. Wait for confirmation. You will receive an email from Solar Victoria confirming the quote has been received. Await pre-approval before proceeding further.
  5. Submit eligibility documents. Upload supporting documents into the portal to verify your eligibility for the rebate.
  6. Receive your approval QR code.
  7. Install within 120 days of receiving the QR code.
  8. Pay the balance after the rebate. This is the total system cost minus your approved rebate. 

Emergency Replacements 

At Solahart, we know hot water can’t wait. If your system breaks down, you can proceed with an installation right away, even before your Solar Victoria rebate application is approved. Just be sure to let your Solahart dealer know you intend to apply. You’ll still need to meet the eligibility criteria and provide documentation after installation. If the rebate application is unsuccessful, the rebate won’t be paid, so it’s important to check your eligibility beforehand and follow the steps carefully. 

If your hot water system fails unexpectedly: 

  • Contact Solahart immediately
  • Inform them you intend to apply for the rebate
  • Proceed with installation using an eligible product
  • Submit your documents as soon as possible
  • Tick the emergency installation box when uploading your quote

This rebate aligns with Local Jobs First, a Victorian Government initiative to grow local industries and create jobs across the state.
