NSW Solar Rebates 2025: Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS)

The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) is a New South Wales government initiative aimed at reducing electricity use during peak demand periods. Through this scheme, households and businesses can receive rebates or incentives when installing energy-efficient technologies like solar PV systems, batteries, and other demand-reducing products.

Extra Savings for NSW Households

Battery Incentives for NSW Residents - Now Available!

The NSW Government has launched a new home battery incentive program offering significant savings for residents and businesses. Eligible participants can receive between $770 and $1150 and $1600 and $2400 off the upfront installation cost of a household battery for homes and businesses with existing solar systems.

Maximise Solar Energy with Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) Incentives

Homes and businesses with rooftop solar can benefit from the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) incentives, promoting the installation of residential battery storage. These incentives can help maximise the use of solar energy and significantly reduce electricity bills.

Benefits of Installing Batteries in NSW

  • Enhanced Grid Reliability: More batteries across NSW will make the grid more reliable and stable.
  • Reduced Fossil Fuel Reliance: Helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels during peak demand periods.
  • Environmental Impact: Contributes to reducing NSW’s emissions by 70% by 2035 and achieving net zero by 2050.

NSW Government Battery Incentive Details

Unlike a rebate, the discount on the installation cost of your battery is provided as an incentive to an accredited supplier. The accredited supplier will pass on the discount to you via your chosen local installer.

The incentive is proportional to the usable capacity of the battery in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Larger batteries will receive a larger incentive. If you’re eligible, discounts range between:

  • $770 and $1150 when you install a new 6.5 kWh battery
  • $1600 and $2400 when you install a new 13.5 kWh battery

For homes and businesses without solar, the incentive can be included in a quote for a new solar and battery system installation.

Eligibility for NSW Battery Rebates & Incentives

To qualify for these incentives, you must:

  • Have an existing solar system or be purchasing rooftop solar.
  • Purchase a new battery.
  • Use a certified installer, such as Solahart.
  • Meet the requirements for eligible batteries.
